The MARS (Martian Agricultural Research Site) was created to see how plants behave in the harsh environments Mars has to offer. Here, plants can be genetically modified to accompany such extreme temperature fluctuations and a near vacuum atmosphere. On top of plant modification, special gel formulas are required to provide the plants with the right nutrition without freezing or boiling off.
